Spring!

Spring seems to have sprung here.  But I know Mother Nature well and although it is a gorgeous 62 degrees out there (and I got a nice little sunburn on Easter Sunday), I don't believe we've seen the last of the cold and snow just yet!
I will take advantage of these early days of spring and get as much yard work done as possible. Ha! Yah right! More like we are riding bikes, going for long walks, digging in the sand and playing with the dog. Truly enjoying the sunshine!  And it's awesome. :)

Arrgh Matey!

Friends and family gathered Sunday for a Pirate party to celebrate Cowboy turning 3.  I had planned a couple games and activities but with the whole family being sick all last week, I was just happy to have gotten the cake made! The party turned out to be relaxing and enjoyable - much less stress than trying to corral a bunch of sugar-high excited kids for games!

Five years old!

Our eldest turned 5 this month.  It's been a little hard to believe that 5 years has gone by! On the other hand he sometimes seems like he's been around forever.
For his birthday dinner, the birthday boy chose:
Pigs in a Blanket
Jello with Fruit
Cheetos
and an under sea cake...
Which left me pouring over pictures online from other creative bakers.  There are some really fun and some very extravagant cakes out there! It is incredible what some of these artists can do.
I finally settled on a coral reef cake and instead of making everything from fondant, I picked up a tube of sea life from the craft store and got creative with some fruit leather. The tube also had a diver and treasure chest, which was the favorite!
